Journal article metadata and book metadata

Coordinators: Ludo Waltman (Leiden University), Mariángela Nápoli (Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales - CLACSO)

This working group focuses on advancing the openness of metadata for journal articles and books. Its goal is to ensure that key publication metadata are made openly available and can be widely used to improve transparency, discoverability, and reuse of scholarly outputs.

To support this transition, the group addresses questions such as what essential publication metadata should be openly available, how institutions can work collectively to promote openness of publication metadata in their interactions with publishers, and how publishers with limited resources can be supported in making their metadata openly available.

The group’s work is organized into three task forces.

Task forces
